Seventy-one percent of Mexican Americans were born in the U.S., and 60% reside in California and Texas. Census Bureau reports from 2010-2019 found that there are approximately 32 million Americans of Mexican heritage, representing 61.5% of all Latino Americans. The Migration Policy Institute estimates that about 25% of foreign-born immigrants are Mexican. Mexican Americans are the largest Latino ancestral population and one of the fastest-growing ethnic groups in the United States.
